Samar Kaukab Ahmad is the executive director of the Ohio Alliance to
End Sexual Violence (OAESV). She received her J.D. from the Ohio State
University Moritz College of Law and her B.A. in political science and
economics from Ohio State University. Ahmad also attended Oxford
University as a participant in an intensive law study program.
Prior to serving at OAESV, she was the executive director at
SalamCorps, a Central Ohio based community service organization
promoting civic engagement within the American Muslim community. Ahmad
also served as the development associate at Interfaith Youth Core in
Chicago, Illinois, and as the founder and executive director of
Cincinnatians Developing Global Communities. Partnering with the YWCA
of Greater Cincinnati and the United Way of Greater Cincinnati, Ahmad
was selected to be a 2005 Equal Justice Works Fellow for a project
that developed and implemented a community engagement and legal
outreach model to address domestic violence within immigrant
communities in Southwest Ohio.
She was also selected as a Fellow for the Karamah – Muslim Women
Lawyers for Human Rights -Non Profit Leadership Development Program,
and served as an AmeriCorps VISTA for the Ohio Community Computing
Network. Ahmad currently lives in Powell, Ohio with her husband, Amer
Ahmad, and two daughters.
