54. Sahar Aziz (Adjunct Professor, Georgetown University)

Professor Aziz (B.S., The University of Texas at Arlington; J.D., The University of Texas in Austin; M.A., Middle Eastern Studies, The University of Texas in Austin) is a civil rights attorney who works with various nonprofit legal organizations on law and policy involving the intersection of civil rights and national security.  Previously, Professor Aziz served as Senior Policy Advisor in the Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”) where she provided policy advice and analysis aimed at preserving civil rights in DHS policies and practices.  Ms. Aziz also led various roundtables between government officials and community groups to foster constructive dialogue among stakeholders.

Ms. Aziz also provides career mentorship program for those interested in law in the DC Metro Area via CAMBA (Captial Area Muslim Bar Association), has her own law firm and has written extensively on human rights and civil rights issues:
